My August Vegan and Spiritual Favourites

At the end of every month, I’m going to post a list of my favourite vegan and spiritual products! These are items that I’ve been obsessed with all month long!!! I will write a review on each of the products and hopefully, if you buy some of them, you’ll enjoy them as well.

Vegan Goodies:

chocote
Rene Rey Vegan Truffles

Why not start with desserts first?? I’ve been obsessed with these creamy vegan truffles by Rene Rey Chocolates. I personally love the sea salt caramel and coconut the best! Cocoa nibs is my least favourite flavour, but they are all delicious. They are all organic and even though they are not labelled as certified fair trade, they make the cut on this list of ethical chocolate: Ethical Chocolate List. The truffles are in the bulk food section of Save-On Foods and I plan on visiting their chocolate factory in North Vancouver sometime soon!

Garlic Just Mayo
Garlic Just Mayo

Unfortunately, I bought this vegan mayo in the states and smuggled a ton back to Canada. I didn’t think I’d like the garlic flavour because I’m not huge on garlic, but I looooovvveee this mayo! The texture is perfect—a lighter version of real egg mayo. I like to put it on sandwiches and hot dog buns. My only compliant with this mayo is that the squeeze bottle is very annoying. One squirt gives you a big blob that you have to spread with a knife anyway and after it’s halfway empty, it’s really difficult to get out the mayo. Besides that, I really hope Just Mayo comes to Canada!

Orange Cream Frozen Coconut
Orange Cream Frozen Coconut

I posted about this ice cream before… but it has to be posted again! This ice cream reminds me of a creamsicle and so it’s magically amazing. It’s very light and refreshing—perfect for summer. I could probably eat the whole tub (but I won’t haha).

Daiya Smoked Gouda
Daiya Smoked Gouda

For some reason, the block style Daiya cheese seems to taste better to me. I’ve been enjoying this flavour all of August! Eating it raw tastes great to me and of course melted as well. It is quite strong though; I put it on a sandwich once and it was all I could taste haha.

Peaches
Peaches

I know it’s kind of weird to post about a fruit because it’s not a man-made product, but I since adore peaches too much, I have to! Sometimes I would have four for breakfast, as a snack, or with meals. I never did anything special with them except for eat them raw or put them in smoothies. Young Brothers, the produce store near me, had organic peaches from the U.S. for really cheap so I stocked up.

Honey Dew Melon

Another fruit I’ve been crazy about is honey dew melon. It’s a perfect fruit for breakfast and they have been really sweet lately as well. I just feel so hydrated when I eat it!

Avocado Oil
Avocado Oil

I used to fry my food with olive oil, but I heard it’s actually really unsafe to use it like that. Using coconut oil is alright, but it does have that coconut flavour. Plus, my container of coconut oil makes it difficult to pour into a pan. Costco has big bottles of avocado oil, which is what I switched over to! It has a more neutral taste and it can handle the high heat. I wish I could find bottles of this at Save-On, but I can’t seem to find it. I highly recommend using this if you can snatch a bottle! (Maybe Whole Foods carries it)

Yves Veggie Dogs
Yves Veggie Dogs

One of my favourite meals this August has been the classic hot dog! Something about them is just really good. I wish I had a proper grill to heat them up, but frying them actually worked quite well. I find Yves tasted the most like meat hot dogs and I would always get the veggie ones over the tofu ones because the veggie ones had more flavour!

Kettle Chips
Kettle Chips

Something I would always eat with my veggie dogs were Kettle chips (only the vegan flavours of course)! I ate a lot of the salt and vinegar flavour which is my go-to. I ate some plain salt kind, pepperoncini kind, and the pepper krinkle kind. I liked the pepperoncini one, but I was disappointed that it actually had no pepperoncini flavouring in it… just jalapeno flavouring… like what? The pepper one is really good, but I can only find it in the big bag which was never on sale. I hope to try the red curry one in the future and even though I don’t want to try it, apparently the maple bacon flavour is vegan!

Field Roast Smoked Sage Apple
Field Roast Smoked Sage Apple

I have nothing bad to say about this product!!!! I am soooo glad that Field Roast is starting to appear in Canada again because their sausages are amazing! This one is my favourite, “Smoked Apple Sage”. It tastes incredible and better yet, it has potatoes in it! It’s perfect BBQ-ed for dinner or a perfect breakfast sausage with pancakes. I actually checked today at the store and this flavour had sold out!

My New Blender
My New Blender

I’m so happy I got a new blender because it’s much bigger than my Magic Bullet! This thing is a rock star at making some killer green smoothies. I don’t have anything negative to say about it yet…. it’s an overall nice blender! It’s an Oster blender, but I’m not sure what the model is, though, it’s the one that is in the picture.

Bread Maker
Bread Maker

I want to start moving away from “Natural Flavours” and bread nowadays are full of perservatives and other weird stuff. When I do buy bread, I get the organic sprouted whole wheat kind, but it is nice to have bread that hasn’t been sitting on a shelf for days. Luckily, I got to use my partner’s bread maker! We make lots of beer pizza dough, bread loafs, and pretzels. We wish to make more interesting and yummy things from it though!

Vegan & Cruelty-Free Products:

Nature's Gate Tea Tree Oil Shampoo
Nature’s Gate Tea Tree Oil Shampoo

I love pretty much anything that uses tea tree oil! This shampoo smells amazing and lathers really well. It even has witch hazel and rosemary essential oils in it! It was kind of on the pricey side ($14 a bottle), but I felt like I got a lot for my buck.

Dr Bronner's Travel Soaps
Dr Bronner’s Travel Soaps

I got Dr. Bronner’s soap to clean my nose piercing, but I’ll probably buy it on a regular basis. I love how all the products use oils so there are no weird chemicals and one little bottle lasts me forever. I wish there were more a variety of scents, but currently I’m using lavender or orange scent (depending on my mood).

Spiritual Products:

Himalayan Salt Lamp
Himalayan Salt Lamp

I recently got a Himalayan salt lamp! Supposedly, it cleanses the air so it helps people who have allergies. Fortunately, I do not have allergies, but I still like to use the lamp in order to bring in positive energy to a space! I love the look of the lamp and I can adjust the brightness as well, which is pretty cool. It is a nice mood lamp, especially if you plan on meditating before bed.

Prayer Flags
Prayer Flags

I got some of these prayer flags when I was down in California and they have brighten up my room. It has made my room feel more spiritual actually! They are very cute and inexpensive!
